20 May 2016 . Myanmar

Ooredoo Myanmar has launched 4G services, opening a new chapter in mobile connectivity and delivering a better quality of service for data, faster speeds and stronger connections.

Coverage of the new service will start in Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyitaw, and will continue to roll out across the country. Pricing for 4G services will be the same as for 3G services, and customers who opt for 4G can still continue to enjoy Ooredoo Myanmar’s value-packed “Facebook Plus” offer, which provides free Ooredoo-to-Ooredoo calls and Facebook access at the super-low price of only 3 kyats per Megabyte.

In order to take advantage of 4G Plus services, customers must have a 4G-capable device and have turned on 4G services on their device settings.

Rene Meza, CEO, Ooredoo Myanmar, said: “We are so proud to deliver 4G technology to Myanmar. Our team has been working hard over the past few months to get the network in good shape to launch, and we will be adding new site and expanding coverage as we go.”

This is only the beginning. Our service will continue to expand and improve over time. We are ready to invest more, and are looking forward to covering even more customers with faster speeds. We look forward to expanding our network as the Government of Myanmar grants more spectrum,” he added.

Ooredoo’s world-class network covered more than 85% of the Myanmar population by the end of April 2016, driven by the company’s record investment in 3G and 4G technology. In addition, the company has rolled out more than 7,700 kilometres of fibre in the country, with plans in place to reach approximately 12,000 kilometres by the end of 2016, as the company strives to offer the best data network in Myanmar.
